As a constituent and a supporter of Zero Hour I’m writing to ask if you will join fellow MPs and add your name to the ‘Climate and Nature Bill’ EDM, number 1184.
In January, the Climate and Nature Bill began its second reading, and MPs voted to adjourn—rather than conclude—that crucial debate.
For an issue so vital to our health, economy, and future prosperity, four hours of debate in January is not enough. We face the greatest, long-term, global challenge of our generation, yet we lack the joined-up framework to tackle this crisis.
Following the adjourned debate of the CAN Bill in January, your Government committed to delivering its ‘spirit and substance’ and the Environment Secretary expressed his personal disappointment to the Environment Audit Committee that the Bill did not progress. This is a major step in the right direction, but I have yet to see any concrete action that matches this commitment.
Will you represent me, and many others in our community, by signing EDM 1184 and urging the Government to allow more time for the Bill’s debate and vote?
